David Croft, co-writer and producer of classic comedies including ‘Allo ‘Allo and Hi-de-Hi has died at the age of 89. He died peacefully in his sleep at his home in Portugal. His family called him a “truly great man” in a statement.

NATO has confirmed that an American soldier mistakenly killed an Afghan journalist working for the BBC in July.
Ahmed Omed Khpulwak, 25, was shot dead after he was mistaken for an insurgent shortly after a suicide bombing. He was one of 19 people killed in the town of Tarin Kowt in southern Uruzgan province.
