The Ministry of Defence has named the soldier from 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards, who was killed in Afghanistan yesterday as Lance Corporal Darren Hicks.

Two British soldiers killed in Afghanistan blast have been named as Cpl John Moore, 22 and Pte Sean McDonald, 26 from the Royal Scots Borderers, 1st Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland.
The pair died while on foot patrol near Sangin in Helmand province.
A total of 256 soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan since 2001.

The MOD is reporting the sad news of the deaths of two soldiers from The Royal Scots Borderers, 1st Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland (1 SCOTS), part of the 3 RIFLES Battle Group, in an explosion near Sangin. Apparently these deaths are not connected with the current major attack in Helmand.
